​City Kids 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program

Youth Development Specialist
City Life Center Site (6 Positions) - 15 to 20 hrs per wk., $11 hr
Banneker Elementary Site (2 Positions) - 15 to 20 hrs per wk., $11 hr
Glen Park Academy Site (2 Positions) - 15 to 20 hrs per wk., $11 hr
Steel City Academy Site (2 Positions) - 12 to 15 hrs per wk., $11 hr

Responsible for:
  • Helping youth youth in grades K-12 reach academic goals
  • Helping City Life Center achieve the goals set forth for the after school program
  • Being a positive role model, motivating and leading youth to excel in every area of life
  • Engaging youth, teachers, and school personnel to ensure kids remain in program, attend regularly, and are on track to achieve their academic goals.
  • Leading a variety of STEM, literacy, physical fitness, outdoor activities, games, etc.
  • Maintaining a well-organized and safe atmosphere to support participants’ overall experience.
  • Actively engaging in both the planning and delivery of daily lessons and activities at the camp.
  • Assisting with the care of the materials, cleaning the program environment, as well as other program-related tasks as directed.

Qualifications:
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals with a true love of working with kids are encouraged to apply
  • MUST BE friendly with a GREAT attitude and EXCELLENT work ethic
  • Must be creative, adaptable, and willing to work positively with others, including co-counselors, parents, and participants
  • Experience working with children is a plus
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Must have a high school diploma
  • All prospective staff will be required to undergo a background check.​​​​

Van drivers
  • Looking for a very dependable, after school van driver
  • Must have a clean driving record and be over age 21
  • Must provide driving record
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be patient with children
  • 15-25 hours per week, $10 hr.
  • Job Type: Part-time

Educational Contractors, $35 per session, Wednesdays 4:45P to 6:15P

  • STEM Instructor - Certified teacher preferred, 30 weeks
    • Facilitate learning of physics using skateboarding - 10 weeks
    • Facilitate STEM learning through the creation of an urban garden (click here) - 10 weeks
    • Facilitate STEAM learning through the use of Ozobots (click here) - 10 weeks 
    • Facilitate learning about STEM careers
 
  • Baking Instructor, 30 weeks
    • Facilitate a fun hands-on after-school baking program for students
    • ​Teach culinary skills, recipe reading, nutritional value, and cultural food awareness
 
  • Music and Piano Instructor, 30 weeks
    • Looking for responsible, high-energy, positive, and fun instructors to teach weekly, beginner-level group music classes to elementary school students
    • Teach basic music fundamentals (notes, scales, pitch, hand placement)
    • Prepare students for special events, as well as winter and summer showcases
 
  • Art Instructor, 30 weeks
    • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
    • Plan and facilitate art classes and workshops for students;
    • Manage classrooms effectively and create a positive learning environment
    • Ensure the delivery of finished works of art for display

Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Must be able to successfully pass background check
